Taiping District

The naming of Dadu District originates from its historical roots. In early times, this area was the home of the Dadu settlement of the Pingpu tribe's Pazeh people, hence the name 'Dadu'. The Yingpu culture already existed here in the Neolithic era. By the 17th century, the Pazeh, along with the Babuza, Hoanya, and Taokas tribes, established the 'Dadu Kingdom' here, and their leader was revered as the King of Dadu.

Dadu District is located in the central-western part of Taiwan, belonging to the southwestern corner of Taichung City. Geographically, it lies to the south of the Qing shui Plain. It is bordered by Longjing District to the north and connects with Nantun District and Wuri District of Taichung City to the east. To the west and south, Dadu District faces Changhua City, Hemei Township, and Shengang Township in Changhua County across the Dadu River.

Dadu District is primarily composed of a rectangular Dadu Plateau, with its topography generally extending in a north-northeast to south-southwest direction. Due to the influence of the southeastward crustal plate compression, this area has formed fold and fault topography. The central part of the plateau juts out towards the northwest, and the overall terrain is tilted eastward. Consequently, Dadu District's landform exhibits a western slope that is higher and steeper, while the eastern slope is relatively lower and gentler, showing a distinct asymmetry between the east and west sides.

Dadu District encompasses several administrative villages, with some of the more populous ones including: Dingjie Village, Ruijing Village, Zhepu Village, Wangtian Village, and Fushan Village. These villages collectively form the community and living areas of Dadu District.
