Although there was a section of heavy rain on the return highway, with torrential downpours so heavy that we could barely see the car in front! I used this service for a round trip from Taipei to Kaohsiung. I used both online booking and ticket counter booking, but I found it more convenient to have my seat reserved at the counter. You can't enter without having your ticket and passport checked by a station attendant, so it might not be suitable for people in a hurry. The included 2-day unlimited Taipei MRT and bus pass, and unlimited Kaohsiung MRT pass were great.

I used this service for a round trip to Kaohsiung. At the ticket counter, you show your reservation number and passport to receive a ticket booklet, which you then show to pass through the gate. Due to my travel itinerary, I could only go to Kaohsiung, but it was definitely worth it. It's a great opportunity to visit cities other than Taipei!
