Before setting off, we were worried about the unpredictable weather at sea, but luckily we had a fantastic travel experience. Although we were a little surprised when we checked in… that's just the easygoing and carefree spirit of Haikou people. Before boarding, we prayed for good luck in dolphin watching… and hoped we wouldn't have to do it again. Sure enough, Lady Luck smiled upon us. The guide's detailed explanations and the navigator's watchful eyes meant that even before we approached Turtle Island, we were accompanied by many bottlenose dolphins. Sometimes they approached the boat, sometimes they leaped to the surface, and sometimes they dived into the sea, their exclamations echoing around the ship. Then, after respecting the dolphins and allowing other boats to pass, we continued our journey to circle Turtle Island. From the turtle's tail… to its back… to its head, besides the magnificent layers of stacked rocks, lush green trees filled another side, and the milky waters beneath the turtle's head, with their beautiful color and the faint smell of sulfur, were all novel experiences. It turned out that Turtle Island wasn't actually that far from us. Thank you for this special package deal, which gave us a unique and enjoyable experience.
If I had to describe the Sea Breeze in one sentence, I would say: it's not a train that "takes you to your destination," but a journey that invites you to "slowly walk into the scenery." The first time you step onto the Sea Breeze, you can immediately feel its difference from ordinary trains. From the exterior, the overall design carries a strong maritime imagery, with gentle, understated colors, as if the sea breeze and sunshine are collected inside the carriages. Inside, the spatial layout is very relaxing. The seats are no longer just for "sitting and waiting to get off," but are deliberately spaced out, allowing your gaze to freely look out the window. The feeling is subtle, as if the train itself is reminding you: there's no need to rush today. The most captivating aspect of the Sea Breeze is undoubtedly the scenery along the way. You'll find yourself no longer looking down at your phone, but constantly trying to savor the scenery for a few more seconds, afraid of missing any fleeting moment. The service on board also adds a lot to the journey. The staff's guidance is gentle and unobtrusive, making you feel cared for without the pressure of a "pre-arranged itinerary." At certain times, local elements are incorporated, such as specialty meals or brief introductions, allowing travelers to gradually understand the story of this land as they travel, rather than simply leaving behind memories of taking photos and checking off landmarks. I especially love the sense of time created by the Sea Breeze. Here, time isn't measured in minutes, but rather layered by scenery and emotions. As the train slowly moves forward, you'll start to reflect on thoughts you usually don't have time to process, or you might simply look out the window and listen to the rhythmic sound of the tracks. It's a long-lost state—quiet, stable, yet not boring. The Sea Breeze isn't a sightseeing train seeking thrills or luxury; its value lies in "companionship." It helps you transform a hurried journey into a memorable experience; it helps you rediscover your sensitivity to life amidst the scenery. If you're looking for a journey that allows your heart to slow down, then the Sea Breeze is truly worth taking some time to sit on, appreciate the beautiful scenery outside the window, and also reflect on yourself.
The tourist attraction is good, although the drive is long. It's advisable to buy park tickets in advance from KK. You need to prepare food for the whole day as there are no food vendors. If you enjoy hot springs, bring a change of clothes. It only costs 250 Taipei dollars. Most of the toilets are squat toilets. The guide, although not English-speaking, tried his best to explain things.
Just like the online reviews, the staff were very friendly and the price wasn't too expensive.
