— About the HAIFENG Sightseeing Train —

Open up the world and discover a gift from Taiwan; open up Taiwan and meet its mountain mist and sea breeze. Ride the sea breeze to the sound of the waves, and step into the mountains as mist drifts through the forest. This is HAIFENG.

The HAIFENG sightseeing train takes its design inspiration from Taiwan's natural landscapes to showcase the island's beauty. Its exterior colors are inspired by the deep blue and emerald green of Taiwan's coastal waters, creating a fresh, elegant feel, so passengers can enjoy both the views outside the window and the train itself.

Every passenger car has panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, and all seating is done in macaron tones with retro sofa seats. Seating includes four-person sofa seats and sea-facing seats for two, making for beautiful photos. From before boarding, passengers are looked after by HAIFENG's dedicated concierge service. Soft gradient lighting, light ocean music and a fresh fragrance fill the cabin, and the scenery along the route is introduced during the journey. Meals come in a gift box, combining highlights of the route with local ingredients.

※ Please note: The station has no accessibility facilities, elevators or escalators.
  • Toucheng Station: Explore on your own, or join a local guide to learn how Toucheng was settled
Toucheng Station dates back to the Japanese era. Known as "Touwei Station" in 1920, it was renamed Toucheng Station in 1948 and upgraded from a third-class to a second-class station in 2020. The old street in front of the station is the earliest developed area of Yilan, where traces of its former prosperity remain in buildings that blend Qing dynasty and Japanese-era styles.

  • Houtong Station: Explore on your own, or join a local guide to learn about Houtong's coal-mining history
Because of coal and gold mining around Houtong and Xiaocukeng, Houtong Station opened in 1920 and took its current name in 1962. It was the main freight station serving the neighboring Ruisan Mining Company and played an important role at the time. After the railway was electrified, Houtong kept its small-town charm and, by chance, became a village where cats gather. It has been named one of the world's six best places to see cats.

※ Please note: The station has no accessibility facilities, elevators or escalators.
  • Yuanli Station: A local cultural worker leads a walk through Yuanli's development
In the 1970s, Yuanli Station was the last stop on the coastal line in Miaoli. The original wooden station was built in the Showa period of the Japanese era. As passenger numbers and train traffic grew, the old station became too small, so the wooden building and the fountain, garden and water tower in front of it were removed and replaced with a new reinforced-concrete station.
※ Please note: Guests who do not join may explore on their own and must gather at the designated time.
