I was taken care of by my driver, Mr. Gao. He was very familiar with the local area and took me to various unique local spots. He was kind and gentle, and I was able to enjoy a wonderful trip with peace of mind. Thank you so much. A word to KKday: I toured from Keelung to Yehliu and Jinshan, and finally got off at Taipei Songshan Airport, but the website did not mention that there was an additional charge of 600 NTD (approximately 3000 JPY) for crossing city boundaries. I was surprised when the taxi company contacted me the day before. Shouldn't this be announced on the website?
The original itinerary couldn't be completed due to insufficient participants, but the staff were very helpful, calling several times to assist in rescheduling so we could travel. We are very grateful. Keelung Island is definitely worth visiting. This time, because we had elderly relatives and children with us, we joined a combined tour, but even on a hot day, an hour's walk was more than enough. The scenery is beautiful; every shot is gorgeous. Highly recommended! 👍
The boat was fantastic, and our tour guide, Brother He, was amazing too! The sea and sky blended seamlessly together; I really wanted to go down and swim!
I made a reservation in advance just in case there was a wait. I was a bit disappointed because our first seat was in the back, but they later guided us to a great spot. We took some really beautiful photos, and since they moved us to such a prime location, it became a truly wonderful memory. It is the most memorable place from my trip to Taiwan. It is such an amazing place, so I highly recommend making a reservation to visit. The scenery is so beautiful... I think it was about 20,000 won per person, but I don't regret spending a single penny. In fact, I think it was great value for money.
The three-in-one tour (island loop + coastal trail + lighthouse trail) takes approximately 3.5 hours. The outbound journey departs from Keelung, and the island loop tour, including the actual arrival on the island, takes about 30 minutes. The return journey is much faster because it skips the island loop. If you are worried about seasickness, it is recommended to take seasickness medication before departure (I've participated twice, and I got seasick once and didn't the other time, depending on the sea conditions). There is ample time allowed after arriving on the island, enough to complete both the coastal trail and the lighthouse trail (without feeling rushed). There is almost no shade on the island, and it is extremely hot in summer. Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sun-protective jacket) is essential, otherwise you will get sunburned. Also, I strongly recommend bringing two bottles of water! The boat operator thoughtfully provides one bottle of ice-cold mineral water per person, but it's best to bring an extra one (especially necessary for climbing the lighthouse trail). Also, please remember to keep your trash clean on the island and bring empty plastic bottles and other trash back to dispose of them. The lighthouse trail has about 1000 steps, mostly wooden boardwalks, but the last section is more rugged rock steps, so it's recommended to wear sneakers as the gravel surface can be slippery. Anyone who exercises regularly and walks slowly can easily complete the trail; the main challenge is the high temperature. Overall, it was a great experience. The scenery and sea views of Keelung Island are stunning and well worth a visit! The boat operators are very friendly, and the guides provide excellent explanations. Furthermore, if there aren't enough participants for a group tour, the boat operators will proactively arrange alternative dates 2-3 days before departure. Highly recommended!
