Jinguashi

The "Go to Jinguashi on a Hazy, Damp Day" special exhibition, personally curated by Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, is being held at the Ruifang Taipower Shuijin Base. The exhibition runs from June 28, 2025, to September 28, 2025. Real-name online reservations open on the 16th of each month at 12:00 PM. If you don't have a reservation, you can also register on-site on the day for a chance to be admitted as a standby.

Jinguashi offers a rich variety of activities. You can start at the Creative Science Museum, then enjoy lunch at a hot pot restaurant, followed by sampling seafood at Shen'ao Fishing Harbor, and then admire the sea views at the Little Greece Cape Secret Spot. Finally, you can choose to ascend the Baoshishan Scenic Trail or the Teapot Mountain Trail for panoramic views of Jinguashi's magnificent scenery.

Gold mining in Jinguashi is no longer commercially operated; the gold mining business ceased over 30 years ago after closing in 1987. Nevertheless, an Australian mining company once explored the area and believed that significant gold reserves still exist underground. Placer gold has also been found in the surrounding rivers, indicating that Jinguashi still possesses considerable mineral potential.

Jinguashi is a settlement located in the northeastern part of Taiwan Island, administratively part of Ruifang District, New Taipei City. Jinguashi and Jiufen are geographically close and were both important mining areas in the early days, often referred to together as the "Jingu-Jiufen area." However, they are distinct locations.

To get to Jinguashi, you can take a train to Ruifang Station and then transfer to the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Gold Fulong Line or Keelung Bus. If you are driving, you can take Provincial Highway 2 (Bin Hai Highway) towards Fulong, or exit from the NuanNuan Interchange on National Freeway 1 and follow the signs.
