The exhibition area's layout is excellent, making it very comfortable to walk through. It takes about two hours to complete, and you can enter and exit multiple times. You could easily spend half a day there! There were only two AR experiences available at an extra charge; one was under maintenance, and the other felt truly immersive and was quite novel! As for the food and beverage options, I felt they were a bit limited. There's a minimum spend of 250 RMB per person (excluding children under 6)! Be prepared if you plan to dine there.
We were shown to a terrace seat a little further back. Because it was night, the view of the ocean was dark and difficult to see, and Amei Tea House was in a blind spot. However, we were able to take photos from a high vantage point in front of the shop, which is only accessible to customers. They taught us how to brew the first cup of tea, and from then on we enjoyed the first five brews ourselves, enjoying tea and sweets. We were able to take any leftover tea leaves home with us.
◆Timing and Environment: It was rainy in Jiufen. ・Since we made a reservation for 4:30 PM, a little before sunset, we were seated on the terrace by the entrance. ・It was a little chilly, as the cold wave of January 23, 2026, was hitting, but it was fine with a down jacket. There was a brazier-like thing below that kept the water warm, so it was only a little chilly. ◆Tea: The waiter explained how to make tea once, and then we were able to leisurely sip our tea. ・They placed an iron kettle on top of the brazier, which was lit by an alcohol lamp, so we could enjoy hot tea for a long time. ・They gave us a packet of tea leaves (about 50g?), so we could drink as many cups of tea as we wanted (although it seemed like the person next to us also had refills of hot water). ・The tea snacks were a dried sweet made from solidified soybean flour, peanuts, and plums in syrup. The plums were delicious, but the peanuts were a bit stingy. I later found that dried sweets were being sold at Katsutachi and other places for about 40 yuan for six pieces. ◆We were able to stay until around 6 PM without worrying about the time, so if the weather is nice, I recommend going in earlier (we weren't asked to leave, we left on our own because we had another appointment). ・Sunset was around 5:30 PM, but it didn't get dark immediately; it took about 30 minutes for it to become completely dark, so I think it's best to schedule your visit so you can stay for about 30 minutes after sunset. ◆Photos/View: The famous Amei Tea House is located across the street, so I think the photos we took here were more atmospheric than having tea at Amei Tea House (although I don't know for sure since I haven't been inside Amei Tea House). ・By the way, we sat on the terrace facing the ocean (the side often featured in guidebooks), and we had a good view of Amei Tea House. The ocean side is also open, so the view was better than from Amei Tea House. By the way, there were no terrace seats on the Amei Tea House side on the entrance floor or the floor two above, but there were terrace seats on the Amei Tea House side one floor above the entrance. *Other: After leaving the store, the narrow passage in front of the store was crowded with people taking photos, so making a reservation was a great idea.
