The staff were very friendly, the drive was safe, and the timing of our arrival at American Village was perfect – we could watch the fireworks before heading back.
At the park entrance, you'll first see a museum displaying antiques and various historical short films. After a brief introduction to the history, exit the building and cross to the other side where you can take a shuttle bus to the foot of the ruins. From there, a short climb up some steps leads to the top. It's clear that much of the original city wall is gone, and the buildings that once stood on it have also disappeared. The scenery is beautiful, offering panoramic views of the sea and the city, making it an excellent defensive position. Coming here isn't just about seeing ruins; by understanding the history, you can connect with them and imagine how Ama and Riku defended the city walls in their final moments.
The beach at Hoshino Resort's "OLU Grill" is truly beautiful; relaxing by the sea after lunch was simply wonderful. The lunch burger, which I wasn't particularly looking forward to, was actually quite good. We strolled around Cape Zanpa and the Southeast Botanical Garden, then did some shopping at Aeon Mall.
The tour leader was very friendly, and the itinerary was packed with sights. Some places, like Kouri Island, were a bit rushed, but that was unavoidable due to the distance. Also, if you're planning to visit the aquarium on the southern itinerary, remember not to buy tickets online yourself; the tour leader will give everyone a 30% discount coupon on the bus.
The timing and location were perfectly arranged, and the driver was very steady and friendly.
