Iriomote Island

The weather on the remote island is unpredictable, so the staff were flexible and adjusted the schedule based on the forecast from the previous day. For example, on days with strong currents, SUP was difficult (you'd be swept away), so they opted for a different activity instead. There was a part where we had to swim 50 minutes each way to Barasu Island, and it was great that we could choose whether or not to participate depending on our physical condition and mood. When canoeing through the mangroves, you'll be submerged in water up to your knees, so quick-drying clothing will make it more comfortable. Even though it was my first time, I quickly got the hang of it. The guides took photos at various points, so you don't need to bring your smartphone (in fact, if you do, you'll be too preoccupied with the terrain). In the afternoon, we took a water buffalo cart ride and strolled around Yubu Island. It was a special experience where we could truly feel what it's like to live in harmony with nature, and I'm so glad I signed up for the tour.

Recommend this Iriomote Island mangrove canoeing experience! The tour guide Yuki was very friendly and was very attentive to introduce the local ecology along the way and explained many interesting tidbits. The mangrove views are beautiful and healing and it feels so at home paddling a canoe. The whole schedule is just the right rhythm, and not rushed, very suitable for relaxation. It's rare to feel the power of nature so close. It's worth a visit!

I was so happy to see such a large number of fireflies up close for the first time. The tour guide can communicate in English. I hope this area can be well preserved. Temperatures are not high in early April, the walk is not strenuous, and there are mosquitoes in the outlying areas. Protect the environment, please take your own garbage away! ! !

Paddling a canoe on a wide river and experiencing nature up close was a really fun tour. Led by staff member Okkun, we were able to fully enjoy the mangroves! It was also fun when we all dashed off to catch fiddler crabs!
