— What You Can Expect —

  • Amanohashidate
Amanohashidate is a scenic sandbar located in Miyazu Bay, northern Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It is often considered one of Japan's three most scenic views, alongside Matsushima Bay and Miyajima. The name "Amanohashidate" translates to "bridge in heaven," and it refers to the sandbar's unique shape, which stretches across the bay like a bridge connecting heaven and earth. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Amanohashidate by ascending to viewpoints such as Kasamatsu Park, where they can use a traditional technique called "Matanozoki" or "Viewing from the Pine's Root" to appreciate the sandbar. This technique involves bending over and looking at the sandbar upside down through one's legs, which is said to make Amanohashidate resemble a pathway to heaven.
  • Ine
Ine is a coastal town located in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It is renowned for its traditional fishing village scenery and unique architectural style known as "funaya." Ine, often called the "Venice of Kyoto," lies 15 kilometers north of Amanohashidate, nestled between mountains and Ine Bay. Over the centuries, it evolved into a fishing hub along trade routes connecting mainland China and Kyoto. The town's waterfront is lined with rows of these funaya, which are wooden houses built directly over the water on stilts. The upper floors of the funaya serve as living quarters for local fishermen and their families, while the ground level is used for boat storage and maintenance. Visitors to Ine can explore the charming streets lined with funaya, take a leisurely cruise on Ine Bay to admire the scenery from the water, and experience the maritime culture of this picturesque coastal town.
