Ample time was allocated at each attraction, allowing for leisurely appreciation of the scenery. While independent travel to Kamikochi and Tateyama Kurobe is typically quite complicated, this 2-day tour was very convenient, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. Rest stops were included along the way, with reasonable time allotted for short breaks. The hotel amenities and meals were good, but unfortunately, the stay was relatively short. However, to enjoy the scenery on a clear day, an early meeting point is recommended. The tour guide was gentle and attentive, providing individual explanations of the itinerary and updating information in the group chat – highly recommended! 👍🏻
This trip to the Kamikochi region of the Japanese Alps was absolutely perfect! Although the round trip from Nagoya wasn't short, the professional guidance of our guide, Mr. Feng, kept the pace excellent, making it completely stress-free. Highlights: • Strolling through breathtaking hidden gems: We started from Taisho Pond and hiked all the way to Kappa Bridge. This route is the essence of Kamikochi, with shimmering lake reflections, crystal-clear streams, and the magnificent Hotaka mountain range – it was like a fairyland. • Professional guide, Mr. Feng: Mr. Feng was incredibly attentive and responsible, not only explaining the local history and natural ecology along the way but also pointing out the best photo spots. Under his guidance, we were able to experience nature in the most relaxed and comfortable way. • Smooth itinerary: For those who don't want to drive or take complicated transfers, this round trip from Nagoya was extremely efficient, perfect for travelers wanting a day trip to explore the hidden gems of the Hokuriku region. I'm so glad we had such a great guide and such great weather; this hiking trip was truly refreshing and rejuvenating.
The driver was very polite and drove very steadily. Although I couldn't understand Japanese, the meeting time was displayed on a sign. We had four hours to explore Kamikochi, which was plenty of time.
Seeing the snow walls on your own, with six different modes of transportation, would be very troublesome, and you might even be unable to get tickets. This tour offers a complete experience, including a great guide, Xiao Qing, and a very smooth and easy-going driver, Dongfang. This trip involves long journeys anyway, and you'll likely experience the same if you're not comfortable with long travel distances. If you can't handle long journeys, don't come.
I checked the weather forecast and made reservations before my trip. The bus was convenient as I could board directly. I was able to easily exchange my ticket for a ropeway ticket with almost no waiting, and I was able to board the ropeway without any problems about 15 minutes after the bus arrived. There were still some snow walls remaining at the top, so I was able to take a stroll around. If the weather had been a little better, I might have spent more time admiring the scenery, but I finished my walk and shopping and came down earlier than planned. I ate bread at a station along the way, but everyone lined up at the bakery at once, so it was crowded with people. There were plenty of seats, and it was nice to relax and look out the window. I would like to go again on a sunny day. It's quite far from Takayama. Most of the visitors were international tourists.
There are reserved and unreserved seats. It was easy to figure out the train schedule; thankfully, we only waited half an hour and managed to board.
