- Pilgrimage Guidelines
1. Pilgrimage on Foot:
During the pilgrimage on foot, pilgrims should follow the instructions of the pilgrimage group's traffic team. Especially when the Mazu palanquin is moving, there are often intense and wide-ranging movements; pilgrims should quickly clear the space to maintain safety and order. In addition, pilgrims on foot should monitor their own physical condition at all times. If feeling unwell, seek assistance immediately and avoid overexertion to prevent causing inconvenience to the group.
2. Voluntary Dining:
As Mazu's benevolence spreads far and wide, devotees along the route enthusiastically prepare various meals and drinks to offer to pilgrims for free, cheering on the 'Xiangdengjiao' (pilgrims). Please use serving utensils when taking food. Kindly clean up your own tableware and trash to avoid environmental pollution and public complaints.
3. Rest Stops:
When the Mazu sedan chair stops at temples or private residences during the pilgrimage, pilgrims should remember not to stray too far from the crowd. This prevents missing the sedan chair's departure due to exhaustion or lack of reminders from others. Additionally, always be mindful of your etiquette and keep the environment clean; do not act in a way that tarnishes Mazu's reputation. If local devotees offer assistance, be humble and friendly, demonstrating the proper conduct of a Mazu follower.

Dajia Jenn Lann Temple
Mazu is the most distinctive and important folk belief in Taiwan. The nine-day, eight-night Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage, held annually by the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple in Taichung, is considered Taiwan's grandest religious carnival. Founded during the Qing Dynasty, the Dajia Mazu Temple is a historic site with over 200 years of history, enshrining Mazu and other associated deities. Formerly known as the Tianhou Temple, it is the largest temple in Dajia District and a vital center of religious faith in Taiwan. The palace-style architecture, with its bright and vivid colors, exudes the majesty and splendor of traditional Chinese design, making it a truly captivating and proud piece of local Taiwanese culture.
The Dajia Jenn Lann Temple Heavenly Holy Mother Pilgrimage is hailed as one of the 'World's Three Major Religious Events.' Dajia Jenn Lann Temple offers a single-day experience, allowing office workers and students to participate in this nine-day, eight-night cultural and religious festival alongside their work and studies. Together, we relay through over 170 temples, continuing a journey of 330 kilometers of inspiration. Experience the roaring firecrackers up close and walk through the quiet, peaceful countryside paths. After the controls and regulations of the pandemic years, 2023 finally ushered in a more stable and relaxed atmosphere. We invite everyone to return to their original intentions with a heart full of love for Mazu and enjoy an open-minded nine-day journey. Feel the selfless spirit of the volunteers along the way and witness the gratitude and cherishing among the devotees. Let us take you to experience the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan during the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage.
