Yongjing Township

The naming of Yongjing Township originates from 1813 (Jiaqing 18th year) when Hakka settlers from Chaozhou Prefecture in Guangdong established a market here. They named this place 'Yongjing,' hoping that the local area and neighboring residents could achieve permanent peace and eternal tranquility, thus avoiding the frequent inter-ethnic conflicts between Hoklo and Hakka people at the time. Initially, 'Yongjing' was the name of the market, covering areas that are now Yongdong and Yongxi Villages, and later it was adopted as the name of the township. In the early days of Japanese rule, this area was renamed Guandi Hall, serving as a representative local name.

Yongjing Township is located in the central-southeastern part of Changhua County, Taiwan. It borders Puxin Township and Yuanlin City to the north and northeast, Shetou Township to the east, Tianwei Township to the south, and Xihu Township to the west. The terrain within the township is flat, with no towering mountains or vast lakes. Currently, Yongjing Township has a population of about 35,000 people, with a population density of approximately 1,680 people per square kilometer. It is the second most densely populated township on Taiwan Island and the third most densely populated township in the entire country.

Yongjing Twilight Market operates daily from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The market is located at No. 116, Ximen Road, Yongjing Township, Changhua County, and parking is very convenient, with many parking spaces available around the periphery for customers. The market is open from Monday to Sunday, and if you make a reservation in advance, vendors can also accommodate your preferred time for preparation.

Changhua County's Yongjing Elementary School has been established for 125 years. To celebrate its anniversary and improve school facilities, Legislator Chen Suyue sought funding from the Ministry of Education, with strong support from Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei. A total of nearly NT$30 million in funding was allocated. This budget is used to rebuild the damaged playground, sports field, and track, which were damaged seven years ago due to campus renovations, and to add a standard artificial turf soccer field, bringing new vitality to Yongjing Elementary School.

Yongjing Township is renowned for its deep agricultural heritage and cultural characteristics. It is one of Taiwan's important flower production areas, especially for lilies. Furthermore, Yongjing is known as Taiwan's 'Hometown of Comics,' boasting a rich comic industry culture. Many old houses in the township retain historical traces, combined with local delicacies such as delicious Hakka cuisine and specialty snacks, offering visitors a rich cultural experience.
