Xuejia District

The origin of the place name 'Xuejia' (Hak-kah) in Tainan is related to the character '壆,' which originally referred to a pool for storing things. In the past, such pools were used for agricultural purposes, such as storing bamboo or as storage for agricultural fertilizer, hence the name 'Xuejia' has been used ever since.

Xuejia District is divided into thirteen administrative villages: Sanqing Village, Guanghua Village, Zhaigang Village, Pinghe Village, Xiuchang Village, Zhongzhou Village, Xinda Village, Xinrong Village, Mingyi Village, Cifu Village, Rende Village, Dawang Village, and Fenghuo Village.

Xuejia District in Tainan has a vast cultivated land area, with main agricultural products including sorghum, corn, shallots, cantaloupe, large watermelons, and cherry tomatoes. In recent years, Xuejia has also contracted with Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Factory to grow domestic sorghum, making it a specialty agricultural and economic crop. Furthermore, the pig farming industry in Xuejia District is quite developed, renowned for producing high-quality piglets.
