Provintia Fort Remnants

To get to Fort Provintia Remnants (Chihkan Tower), you can drive yourself, exit National Highway 1 at the Yongkang Interchange, and follow Provincial Highway 1, Zhongzheng South Road, and Gongyuan Road to Minzu Road Section 2. You can also take the TRA to Tainan Station, then transfer to the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus Route 98 (Fu Cheng Tai Jiang Line) and get off at Chihkan Tower Station. Transportation is very convenient.

Fort Provintia and Fort Zeelandia were separated by the Taijiang Inland Sea in ancient times. Both forts were built by the Dutch, each guarding important military positions and witnessing historical changes together.

Generally, visiting Fort Provintia Remnants (Chihkan Tower) takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you have a strong interest in historical sites and want to read the interpretive signs carefully, admire the architectural details, or include the surrounding gardens, the Sea God Temple, and the Wenchang Pavilion, it is recommended to allocate 1 to 2 hours. If you combine it with surrounding local delicacies and other attractions, you can arrange a more leisurely half-day or full-day tour.

Due to structural cracking and damage, as well as aging equipment, Tainan City Government began renovation work on Fort Provintia Remnants (Chihkan Tower) in 2022, which is expected to be completed in October 2024. At that time, it will be presented with its historical appearance in a more complete state.
