The initial registration at the High Speed Rail counter is a bit of a hassle, but if you're using unreserved seats, you can go 10 minutes early, show your passport and documents to the staff, and enter directly through the ticket gate. You only need to queue briefly at the entrance to cars 10-12 to board. On weekdays, you can easily find a seat, making it very convenient. It's a great deal because you can recoup the cost with just one round trip between Taipei and Kaohsiung. However, the way to read the timetable is not as easy as in Japan (it changes depending on the day of the week), so those who plan meticulously in advance should be careful. The timetable displayed at the station on the day of travel is easy to read and reassuring.
I traveled to taipei for 32 days. Thanks for being accommodating to allow me to extend for a day (instead of 3 days) for less pay as I will be returning early on my last day.
It is easy to use and efficient.
It was crowded and the air conditioning wasn't very cold, so my child was sweating a lot, but everything else was great. Today, someone peed on the floor, and my daughter stepped in it. We were thinking of buying a new pair of socks, but the staff were already dealing with it and gave my daughter a new pair of socks and some alcohol to disinfect the wound. They were very thoughtful and handled it very well, which made my daughter much happier. I highly recommend it; it's all very fun.
Taking the bus would have been cheaper, but since Taiwan was also experiencing a three-day weekend and expected to be crowded, we opted for convenience and made a reservation. Because my travel companion was Taiwanese, communication with the driver was no problem. At Sun Moon Lake, the driver provided information on sightseeing boat tickets, recommended routes, and even suggested souvenir shops where we could buy items at a slightly cheaper price. The driver drove safely and even checked on us when we needed to use the restroom, allowing us to enjoy the trip with peace of mind.
It's alright. The discount concept is convenient and easy to use, and you can pay the difference.
