Product Info

- Attraction Introduction -

  • Takachiho Gorge
Takachiho, located at the northern end of Miyazaki Prefecture, is widely known as the stage of ancient Japanese mythology. Inside Amano Iwato Shrine in Takachiho village, there is a cave made of rock, said to be where the angry god lived in the 'Amano Iwato Legend', which describes the world falling into darkness. Takachiho Shrine holds the Night Kagura every night, where songs and dances are offered to the gods to pray for a bountiful harvest, making it a land of myths that inherits the worldview of ancient mythology. Here lies Takachiho Gorge, designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty. It is a V-shaped deep gorge formed by volcanic activity of Mount Aso in ancient times, and you can explore the bottom of the valley by renting a boat.

  • Amano Iwato Shrine / Amano Yasukawara

Amano Iwato Shrine is a shrine with the legend of Amaterasu Omikami. It is said that Amaterasu Omikami, who symbolizes the sun, was angered by her brother's behavior and hid herself in a cave, causing the world to fall into darkness. The eight million gods gathered at Amano Yasukawara to think of a solution, but to no avail, until a goddess danced a ridiculous and funny dance, making the gods burst into laughter. Amaterasu Omikami finally peeked out, and the world regained its light. The East Main Shrine (Higashi-Hongu) is dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami, and the West Main Shrine (Nishi-Hongu) is the Amano Iwato cave where she hid, which you can apply to enter and worship. Walking upstream along the river from the shrine and passing through the quiet mountain forest path, you can see the sacred site of Amano Yasukawara where the eight million gods gathered.

  • Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine (Filming location of 'Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light')

A hidden shrine located deep in the mountains of the Aso region in Kumamoto Prefecture. The approach is lined with towering stone lanterns on both sides, surrounded by primeval forests, creating a mysterious and quiet atmosphere. This place has attracted much attention as one of the filming locations for the anime movie 'Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light' and is also considered a spiritual spot full of energy. Walking into it feels like stepping into a movie scene, where you can feel both the beauty of Japanese nature and the faith culture. It is a popular spot that has been loved by travelers in recent years.
