Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is the head shrine for all Tenmangu shrines, dedicated to the god of academics. Visitors can admire the solemn vermilion main hall, explore the scenic grounds, and try the famous 'Ume-ga-e Mochi' (plum branch rice cakes) sold along the lively approach road. It's also a popular spot for academic success prayers and experiencing traditional Japanese culture.
To fully experience Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, including exploring the main hall, strolling along the approach road, and trying local treats, visitors typically need about 1.5 to 2 hours. This allows ample time for sightseeing, personal reflection, and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of the shrine and its surroundings.
Currently, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is undergoing a significant renovation of its main hall, expected to continue until early 2027. During this period, a temporary main hall designed by world-renowned architect Sou Fujimoto is in place, offering a unique architectural experience while prayers and rituals continue as usual.
The Beppu Ropeway offers an aerial ascent to the summit of Mt. Tsurumi, providing breathtaking panoramic views from 1,375 meters high. Visitors can overlook Beppu Bay, the city's hot spring steam, and the surrounding mountains. Each season presents a different spectacle: cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant greenery in summer, brilliant autumn foliage, and picturesque frost flowers (juhyo) in winter.
A round trip on the Beppu Ropeway itself takes approximately 10 minutes each way. Once at the summit of Mt. Tsurumi, visitors can spend 30-60 minutes enjoying the views and perhaps a short walk around the observation points, making the total experience about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on how much time is spent at the top.
This day trip provides convenient, direct transportation from Fukuoka, with a designated meeting point at Hakata Station, to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, Beppu Ropeway, Yufuin, and other planned stops. This eliminates the need for personal navigation or coordinating multiple public transport connections, allowing travelers to relax and enjoy the scenery between destinations.
Yufuin Town offers a charming, fairytale-like atmosphere. Visitors can stroll along Yunotsubo Street, known for its gourmet food, unique craft shops, and cafes. Kinrinko Lake is famous for its mystical morning mist, creating picturesque views, especially at dawn. The town also features the quaint Floral Village, reminiscent of European villages.
Yes, the Kyushu day trip is accompanied by a professional guide fluent in multiple languages. Guides are available in Chinese, English, and Korean, ensuring that a diverse range of international travelers can receive comprehensive explanations and assistance throughout the tour, enhancing the overall experience.
