Crime against foreigners in South Korea is generally low. Petty crime can occur in major metropolitan areas, tourist sites, and public markets. It's advisable to remain aware of your surroundings in crowded entertainment, nightlife, and shopping districts.

Koreans are often found to be very helpful and friendly towards tourists, and are very respectful to older people. While they may not engage in small talk with strangers as commonly as in some other cultures, interactions with staff at various establishments are typically lovely.

Key etiquette rules in South Korea include not using a one-handed handshake, always pouring alcoholic drinks with two hands or by supporting the pouring arm, refraining from writing names in red ink, not assuming you can call people by their first names without proper introduction, and always offering seating to pregnant, elderly, or handicapped individuals on public transport.

In South Korea, while an employer can extend work hours in a particular week or day according to an employee's contract, the average work hours per week during a specific period (not exceeding two weeks) must not surpass 40 hours. Individual weekly work hours are capped at 52 hours, with a daily limit of 12 hours.
