Coronet Peak
Coronet Peak is Queenstown's local mountain. It stands tall and proud, epitomising the energetic spirit of the resort town booming in the basin below. Ask any local and they will tell you Coronet Peak is the local's mountain, not only because it's so close to town, but because it's become an integral part of the community. It all started in 1947 when Coronet Peak opened as New Zealand's first commercial ski field. The mountain has been leading the way ever since; implementing the largest snowmaking set up in the southern hemisphere, and now hosting New Zealand's longest ski day with First Tracks and Night Ski. Coronet Peak is a mountain for performance with roller coaster terrain, wide runs, fast laps and plenty of vertical.
Coronet Peak is easy to get to, just a 20-minute drive from town on a scenic alpine road or book on our convenient Info & Snow Ski Bus. If you're dreaming to learn how to ski or snowboard, Coronet Peak is the perfect place to start! With extensive beginner facilities, modern and easy-to-use chairlifts, and progressive terrain, info&snow offers passes & packages for all ages to ensure your first day on the snow is unforgettable. We understand how challenging it can be to plan a family holiday, so we've made it easy for everyone to enjoy their time on the mountain.
