The best travel seasons for Matsu are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the climate is mild and comfortable, suitable for outdoor activities and enjoying natural scenery. If your primary goal is to see the Blue Tears, it's recommended to visit from April to June. During this period, the number of Blue Tears is higher, and under the conditions of a south wind blowing, the chances of seeing them significantly increase. To witness the Blue Tears, avoid the moonlight glare around the full moon, choose to go during high tide, and pay attention to conditions such as south winds and calm seas. Blue Tears viewing sessions are limited, so early booking is advised.

The cost of a three-day trip to Matsu varies depending on the itinerary and accommodation choices. The duration of your Matsu trip depends on the number of islands you wish to experience in depth. It is generally recommended to plan for at least a three-day, two-night trip, which is sufficient to visit the classic attractions of Nangan and Beigan. If you want to experience Matsu's unique charm more deeply and plan for island-hopping tours including islands like Dongyin or Juguang, it is recommended to plan for a four-day, three-night or longer trip.

The main transportation options from Taiwan to Matsu are by plane and by ferry. Flights depart from Taipei Songshan Airport or Taichung Qingquangang Airport, with a flight time of approximately 50 to 65 minutes. For ferry services, you can take the 'Xin Tai Ma Lun' or 'Tai Ma Zhi Xing' from Keelung Port, with a journey of about 8 to 10 hours; or take the 'Bei Nan Zhi Xing' fast ferry from Taipei Port, with a journey of about 3 hours.

Currently, Uni Air is the primary airline operating between mainland Taiwan and Matsu. You can fly from Taipei Songshan Airport or Taichung Qingquangang Airport to Nangan Airport. The flight time from Taipei is about 50 to 55 minutes, and from Taichung, it is about 60 to 65 minutes.
