If you want fewer crowds, go at this time; if you want beautiful scenery, you have to be in the crowds. Even without the autumn leaves turning red, the view of Lake Chuzenji is indeed spectacular. The cable car ride from start to finish takes less than 3 minutes. If it's too crowded and you can't get a window seat, I suggest waiting until after work, but make sure to catch the bus.
On November 23, 2025, we happened to be there during Japan's three-day weekend, which shortened our time at the attractions. However, our tour guide adjusted the schedule to ensure we had enough time to see everything. Although we still didn't have enough time for Toshogu Shrine, the guide still shared some historical stories to help us understand the site better! Our guide, Sophie, was very professional and experienced! Highly recommended! Autumn Foliage: The autumn leaves along Irohazaka were almost all gone, and the Red Bridge was just beginning to fall! Beautiful sunlight!
The time spent at Chuzenji Lake was too short, but the Kegon Falls were truly magnificent, and the Toshogu Shrine was resplendent with gold and jade. It was definitely worth the trip.
