The Walami Trail is managed by Yushan National Park and its opening status may be affected by weather or trail maintenance. An entry permit and mountain permit are required in advance. Before planning your trip, it is highly recommended to check the latest announcements from the Yushan National Park Headquarters to confirm if the entire trail or specific sections are open and to be aware of any control measures to ensure a safe and smooth journey.
The Walami Trail is located in an important habitat for Formosan black bears, so there is indeed a chance of encountering them. The park management has posted warning signs to alert visitors. Although bears generally avoid humans, to minimize risks, it is advisable to hike in groups and make noise to alert bears of your presence, rather than hiking alone. Avoid loud conversations or running while walking to prevent disturbing them.
If you encounter a bear on the Walami Trail, stay calm and do not run away or turn your back to it. Slowly back away, maintaining a safe distance from the bear. Avoid direct eye contact and speak softly to let the bear know you are there. Do not try to feed or provoke the bear. Carrying a bear bell or whistle can help prevent encounters, and can be used in emergencies.
Generally, this Hualien Sen Tang One-Day Tour package includes the experience fee for Antong Hot Springs. This means you won't need to pay an additional entrance fee for the hot springs, allowing you to focus on enjoying the therapeutic waters. Booking this tour through KKday ensures you receive comprehensive services, including transportation and itinerary arrangements, allowing you to effortlessly enjoy the dual delights of the Walami Trail and Antong Hot Springs.
Antong Hot Springs are hydrogen ion springs with a slight sulfurous smell. The water is clear and transparent, appearing milky white. Its quality is known for moisturizing the skin and soothing muscle soreness, earning it the nickname 'Beauty Soup'. It is said to be beneficial for skin conditions, nerve pain, and arthritis. Soaking can promote blood circulation, leading to relaxation and fatigue relief.
When joining the Hualien Sen Tang One-Day Tour, you don't need to worry about transportation. This tour provides round-trip pick-up and drop-off services from Hualien City hotels or stations. Professional drivers and guides will directly transport you from your designated location to the Walami Trail entrance and the Antong Hot Springs area, allowing you to enjoy your trip comfortably without needing to plan complex transportation routes yourself.
The Walami Trail is divided into the first, middle, and rear sections. The first section is flat and easy to walk, covering approximately 4.5 kilometers and taking about 1.5 to 2 hours one way. It is very suitable for families with children or beginner hikers. This tour will provide suggested route maps from the guide, allowing you to choose a suitable section based on your fitness and time, for a relaxed and enjoyable outdoor activity.
Antong Hot Springs are suitable for all seasons, but winter (approximately November to March) is the best season to experience the hot springs. Soaking during this time can effectively ward off the cold and provide the best warming effect. When soaking, please note that you should shower and clean your body first, avoid bathing on an empty stomach or immediately after a meal, and limit your soaking time, taking a break every 10-15 minutes. Replenish fluids appropriately to prevent discomfort.
