The scenery is beautiful and the energy is great, making it suitable for in-depth travel. There are many steps, so you need to wear sneakers. Boat services may be suspended sometimes due to strong winds, so please check the official website frequently.
Lake Biwa is Japan's largest freshwater lake and definitely worth a visit. While train access is inconvenient, taking the bus is the most worthwhile option. This trip omitted the observation deck visit, but it was still very worthwhile. If you enjoy visiting Buddhist temples, this is a must-do. A big thank you to our guide, Casper! Although we almost couldn't find our way to the bus stop, she eventually found us and even helped us take photos. Her bilingual explanations in Chinese and English were truly wonderful! Because the itinerary was quite rushed, I recommend bringing your own food to avoid wasting time eating, as you'll miss many photogenic spots!
The cable car departs only at 00:00 and 03:30 on the hour, so please be aware of the boarding time. The trees along the route are mostly maple and acer trees; in autumn, the mountains are ablaze with vibrant red leaves 🍁, while in spring the scenery is much more subdued.
This time, I finally fulfilled my dream of visiting the MIHO Museum, stepping into a time tunnel to admire ancient gold artifacts, and enjoying lunch at the restaurant. The food was additive-free and very satisfying. Our driver, Nick Lee, was extremely professional, driving safely, providing clear explanations, and taking excellent care of us. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
