- Attraction Introduction -

Wangan

• Tiantai Hill: From the top of Tiantai Hill, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Wangan Island. The hill features the famous 'Fairy Footprint Rock,' which is a basalt rock formation resembling a human footprint. Legend has it that when the Eight Immortals were crossing the sea, Lu Dongbin suddenly felt a stomach ache. Unable to find a restroom, he stepped one foot on Tiantai Hill in Wangan and the other on a sea cliff east of Huayu to relieve himself. The footprint left on Tiantai Hill became the current 'Fairy Footprint Rock,' while the waste he left behind transformed into the various islands of Penghu.
• Zhongshe Ancient House: Originally known as Huazhai, the Zhongshe Ancient House retains the architectural style of the late Qing and early Republic of China eras. It attracts painters, photographers, and professors and students of architecture from all over to visit and conduct research.
• Yuanyang Cave: During the Japanese colonial period, Yuanyang Cave was an important military site for the Japanese army. It was planned as a speedboat base, but the plan was never implemented due to Japan's defeat. Today, the two massive caves excavated at that time still remain. The area has gentle currents and clear water, and it is now equipped with pavilions, public restrooms, and a designated camping area.
• Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center: The building is shaped like a streamlined turtle shell. Inside, it is divided into different themed areas, including a Green Sea Turtle introduction area, a turtle and human ecology exhibition area, a seabird introduction area, and information on Nanhai tourism. In addition to conducting local conservation research and treating injured green sea turtles, the center also features various biological models, interactive displays, and guided tours of marine ecological resources. You can also find relevant information about seabirds and other protected species in the center.

Qimei

• Qimei Tomb (Tomb of the Seven Beauties): Legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty, Qimei was attacked by Japanese pirates. Seven women, unwilling to be humiliated by the pirates, chose to jump into a well together to preserve their honor. Later, seven catalpa trees grew at the site of the well (it is said they only bloom but never bear fruit). Locals believe these trees are the incarnations of the seven women.
• Waiting-for-Husband Stone: Legend tells of a loving couple on Qimei Island. The husband went out to sea to fish and did not return for a long time. The wife waited for his return at this spot. After several days passed without a sign of him, the woman continued to wait faithfully by the seaside until she eventually collapsed and passed away. Later, a rock formation resembling a pregnant woman coincidentally formed by the sea, with hair, head, chest, abdomen, and feet all vividly depicted, which is truly amazing. Later generations believe this is the incarnation of the woman who waited day and night for her husband to return.
• Little Taiwan: Walking north along the coastal road from Niumuping, you will see a viewing pavilion as you pass the slope. Standing on the pavilion, you can see a wave-eroded platform that has been shaped by years of sea erosion into a shape resembling a small Taiwan, hence it is called Qimei Little Taiwan. There is also a rock resembling Guishan Island in the same location, which becomes even more distinct during low tide.
• Twin Hearts Stone Weir: The stone weir is a manifestation of the wisdom of our ancestors. It is a fishing trap built using basalt and coral reefs. Because of its romantic shape, the Qimei Twin Hearts Stone Weir attracts numerous couples and has become an iconic tourist attraction in Penghu.
