Magical Autumn Light-Up at the World Heritage Ainokura Gassho Village

Ainokura Gassho Village in Gokayama, Toyama—designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site—hosts a limited early autumn light-up event just twice a year. This special evening offers a rare chance to experience the serene beauty of Japan’s traditional countryside, illuminated under the crisp autumn sky.
Wander through the village surrounded by pampas grass, cosmos, and red spider lilies in full bloom, adding vibrant color to the nostalgic scenery. On the morning of the event, you may also witness a traditional rice harvest in the terraced fields, complete with “hasagake” (rice stalks drying in the sun), capturing the essence of Japan’s rural heritage.

Explore the World Heritage Shirakawa-go Gassho Village

Shirakawa-go, a popular tourist destination and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to rows of traditional gassho-style houses. In early autumn—an ideal season for travel—the village transforms with golden rice fields and swaying pampas grass, offering a truly picturesque glimpse into the charm of Japan’s autumn countryside.

Kurobe Gorge Railway Scenic Trolley Train

Kurobe Gorge, one of Japan’s top three gorges, features dramatic V-shaped valleys carved by the Kurobe River. Enjoy stunning views of untouched nature and seasonal landscapes from the scenic train. Feel the breeze, hear the river, and relax on a ride through this hidden gem of the Northern Alps.
★ Round-trip on a comfortable reclining seat train ★
