The buildings and forest paths were wonderful, and I'm glad I went. There were a lot of stone steps to climb and descend, which was tough for a middle-aged person like me who doesn't get much exercise. There were also many places where you had to take your shoes off and put them back on, and the manners of the foreigners there were... I had to buy tickets online and then exchange them for paper tickets. They should have announced this more clearly at the site. After climbing the stairs, I was told to go down and exchange my ticket. There were many interesting things to see, and it was a very fulfilling experience.
The Edo Village and Toshogu Shrine package deal is a great deal! Edo Village has a specific date requirement, but Toshogu Shrine does not, making it easy to plan our travel schedule. There was a long line at the Toshogu Shrine ticket office, but we were able to get our tickets immediately at the advance ticket counter on the right, with no line at all. We surprisingly enjoyed Edo Village. We entered around noon on a Saturday during spring break, and it was crowded, but we were able to see all the theater performances and visit the exhibitions.
No need to book tickets, no need to change vehicles, no need to rush, just get on the bus comfortably and rest. When you arrive at your destination, you'll be full of energy for your trip. How wonderful! 👍
