Kiyomizu-dera Temple is the widely recognized English name for 清水寺. This historic Buddhist temple is located in eastern Kyoto and is celebrated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its name, meaning "Pure Water Temple," comes from the Otowa Waterfall situated within its sacred grounds.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple is renowned for its remarkable wooden main hall, featuring a large veranda that extends over a hillside, built without using a single nail. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of Kyoto. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's also famous for the sacred Otowa Waterfall and its stunning seasonal scenery, including cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, attracting visitors worldwide.
Visitors typically purchase admission tickets directly at the entrance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. For enhanced convenience and a smoother experience, particularly during busy travel periods, it is highly recommended to book your tickets in advance through a reputable travel platform. Booking via KKday can streamline your entry and often provides clear instructions, contributing to a more enjoyable visit.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple is dedicated primarily to the Bodhisattva Kannon, specifically an eleven-faced, thousand-armed manifestation. It holds profound religious significance as a spiritual center for those seeking compassion and mercy. The temple is also renowned for the Otowa Waterfall, where visitors drink from three separate streams, each believed to bestow specific blessings such as longevity, success, and love.
Yes, this day tour is thoughtfully designed to provide seamless transportation throughout the itinerary. It includes convenient transfers from your designated departure point in either Osaka or Kyoto to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and subsequently transports you to the specified viewing area for the Tenjin Festival Dedication Fireworks in Osaka. The Tenjin Festival Dedication Fireworks are a spectacular highlight, recognized as part of one of Japan's three greatest festivals. This tour offers an exclusive advantage by providing designated seating at the C venue circular plaza for the fireworks display. This ensures you can comfortably witness approximately 3,000 fireworks illuminate the Ōkawa River night sky, creating an unforgettable summer festival memory.
