[UK Visa] UK ETA e-Visa Application Service

Starting from March 3, 2009, Taiwanese citizens holding Taiwanese passports containing their national identity card number and with a validity of more than six months are eligible for visa-free entry to the UK for tourism, visiting relatives, studying, attending conferences, or conducting business, provided their stay does not exceed six months within a 12-month period.

On September 10, 2024, the UK Home Office's Visa and Immigration Office (UKVI) announced a phased implementation of the "Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)" entry system.

Holders of Taiwanese passports with a Taiwanese national identity card number who do not hold a valid UK visa or eVisa can apply for an ETA starting November 27, 2024. From January 8, 2025, an ETA will be required to enter the UK.

The UK Electronic Travel Authorization Document (ETA) is usually valid for two years, or until its expiry date if the passport has less than two years of validity remaining. However, a new ETA must be applied for in the following situations: 1. The traveler obtains a new passport; 2. The traveler changes their name; 3. The traveler changes their gender; 4. The traveler changes their nationality; 5. The answers provided in the previous application are no longer correct.

Passengers holding a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) must check the status of their ETA on the UK ETA system before each entry into the UK. Applicants only need to bring the passport used when applying for the ETA and do not need to print any other documents.

The date of use is the date of application acceptance, and the calculation period begins after all required documents for the passenger are complete.

Please do not book flights, hotels, or other travel arrangements before your visa has been processed.

The electronic visa is only required for passengers to board planes or ships to the UK, but UK border control officers have the final say on whether a passenger can enter the country.

Those who intend to travel to the UK for reasons such as studying or working must still apply for an appropriate visa from the British Trade Office in China before they can enter the UK.
