Product Info

- Hell Hot Spring Museum -

Located in Kannawa, Beppu, Oita, the Hell Hot Spring Museum focuses on the story of 'Why are hot springs called hells?' and how rainwater blends with minerals underground over a long period to become hot springs. Through immersive video and sound exhibits, the museum invites you to rediscover hot springs as a gift from nature and learn about the lifestyle, culture, and community spirit that formed in Beppu Kannawa throughout history.

If you choose the 3-facility combo ticket, you can visit iconic spots of the Beppu Hell Tour in addition to the museum:

  • Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell): One of the largest hot spring ponds among the Hells of Beppu, featuring a cobalt blue color. The garden also uses hot spring heat to cultivate giant water lilies and tropical water lilies (blooming season is approximately early May to early November, best viewed in the morning).
  • Oniishibozu Jigoku: Features gray mud bubbling like the heads of monks (bozu). You can also see the 'Oni no Kohan' geyser, which erupts with 100°C steam, and enjoy facilities like foot baths (depending on on-site availability).
