A truly perfect two-day trip to Tainan! Thanks to our driver, Brother Su, for leading the way; every single one of our recommended restaurants was a hit. We ate our way from the city center to the Nanxi mountain area, caught the last of the cherry blossoms in full bloom (a sight to behold in Thailand), and visited the majestic Wanfo Temple. The lemon chicken at the end was a delightful surprise. This chartered tour made for a perfect ending to our "Taste of the Ancient Capital, Zen Journey in the Mountain City"!

I stopped in Taichung on my way from Kaohsiung to Taipei because I wanted to try this soft-serve ice cream. It was unfortunately raining, but I was touched by the kindness of the staff who kindly offered me a paper towel to dry my wet hands. I chose the oolong tea flavor, and it was refreshing and delicious. The cone was exactly like a Japanese kawara senbei (rice cracker). To my surprise, there were also Shine Muscat grapes at the bottom, so I enjoyed it to the very last bite.

I chartered a taxi with Ms. Vivian to take me around Taichung city and Gaomei Wetlands. She was very considerate of my elderly mother and even accompanied us to the ticket counters at tourist attractions; her service spirit was excellent. I don't speak fluent Chinese, but I enjoyed chatting with her. Even if you don't speak any Chinese, she can translate on her smartphone, so I think it's not a problem. I also communicated with the travel agency via LINE before the trip. I was having trouble getting bullet train tickets because it was during a long holiday weekend, but they gave me advice on being put on a waiting list and pointed out that I had booked a more expensive package with a different destination, showing great attention to detail.
