Nanjo

Since we were able to get off at the airport on the last day of our trip, we took a ride. Up until now, our sightseeing had mostly been focused on scenic spots and shopping, but we wanted to learn more about Okinawa's history. We had always wanted to visit the sacred sites (Utaki) and the Himeyuri Tower, but unfortunately, there were many school groups on a field trip that day, and we didn't have time to enter the museum. Nevertheless, our guide, Ms. F, told us a lot about Okinawan history, including her own family's experiences. My family, who had said, "Maybe we should have rented a car on the last day too," were able to enjoy sushi and Orion beer at the Itoman market without having to drive. I was able to buy Okinawan shallots and apple bananas as souvenirs, in addition to sata andagi (Okinawan doughnuts). Ms. C, our bus driver, was also very safe and made us feel at ease. Chinen Cape was very beautiful and made for a wonderful memory.

This was my second tour (Southern Taiwan). The itinerary was relaxed, with short transportation times. Our female tour guide, Huo Baoying, had a gentle voice. The group was punctual, and the pace was just right, with only a short time for sightseeing. The optional sightseeing boat trip was worthwhile. My favorite was Senaga Island; the scenery was beautiful, there was a free foot bath, and a -10°C ice and snow cafe for a great experience at a reasonable price. A great place to visit and check out if you're not driving.

There's ample time for sightseeing and taking photos at each attraction, and the guide/driver always checks the number of passengers before setting off. The bus is stocked with plenty of information about the attractions, making it perfect for independent travelers.

Buy your tickets in advance to save time queuing. Yuquan Cave is still spectacular on my second visit, and the taiko drum performance is worth the price of admission.

I was very happy to travel with our guide, Mr. Mou. The itinerary was perfectly timed, and I learned about the highlights of the attractions and gained an introduction to Okinawa's culture. It was a lot of fun traveling alone.
