Product Info

ーTokushima Uzunomichi Walkwayー

Uzunomichi is a 450-meter-long promenade built within the main girder of the Onaruto Bridge, suspended 45 meters above the Naruto Strait. This thrilling walkway allows visitors to stroll above the sea and get an up-close view of the famous Naruto whirlpools. The Naruto whirlpools are formed by the powerful tidal currents between the Seto Inland Sea and the Kii Channel.

These whirlpools can reach up to 20 meters in diameter, making them some of the largest in the world, and they only appear at specific tidal times. Naruto is also one of the three places in the world with the fastest tidal currents, which can exceed 20 km/h during seasonal spring tides (also known as king tides) that occur during full and new moons throughout the year.

Along the walkway, visitors can also enjoy beautiful views of the Onaruto Bridge, sightseeing boats, and the surrounding Naruto Park, including attractions like Mount Naruto and the Otsuka Museum of Art.

ーOnaruto Bridge Eddy Memorial Hall

The Onaruto Bridge Eddy Memorial Hall is a spiral-shaped museum inspired by the Naruto whirlpools themselves. Through immersive videos, interactive simulations, and virtual experiences, the museum allows visitors to explore the mechanics of the Naruto whirlpools and the engineering principles behind the Onaruto Bridge.

Key highlights include:

  • 4K 360° Theater 'Awa' – showcasing the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Tokushima, including spectacular scenes from the Awa Odori Festival.
  • Play Eddy! – touch and voice-controlled LED projections where guests can interact with whirlpool-themed artwork.
  • Amazing Onaruto Bridge! – educational exhibits and replicas explaining the construction process of the magnificent Onaruto Bridge.
  • Rooftop Observation Deck – on clear days, you can see as far as Wakayama and Shodoshima from here, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the scenery.
  • Guided by the mascot 'Eddy', visitors can learn when and how the whirlpools form through engaging multimedia exhibits.
