Product Info

  • "Bento" is a typical Japanese home-cooked dish. This lesson will teach you how to make bento, a small box filled with thick sushi rolls and tamagoyaki rolls, in English (Japanese). Due to its location in Kamakura, the class has many international guests. In addition to making bento, you can also make simple chopstick holders out of origami, talk about each country's food culture, and enjoy cultural exchange. We also recommend taking a stroll around Kamakura with the bento you've made. - Schedule of the day - 1. Lesson schedule/recipe explanation (10 minutes) 2. Demonstration + hands-on experience (20 minutes) 3. Making thick sushi rolls (20 minutes) 4. Packing and making chopstick holders out of origami (20 minutes) 5. Tour of a nearby supermarket (20 minutes)
  • Intercultural exchange through cooking classes
  • Many international students attend our bento classes. One of the joys of bento making is the opportunity to exchange cultures. Even if you don't speak English, you can still connect with others by making bento together. Children of elementary school age and above are welcome to participate, so feel free to join with the whole family.
  • Making thick rolls without using a bamboo mat
  • We do not use any special ingredients or equipment, as we want you to be able to easily recreate the recipes after the lesson. We have prepared delicious and beautiful recipes that do not require mirin or rolling mats, which are hard to find overseas.
  • Stroll around Kamakura after the lesson
  • Kamakura is surrounded by the sea and mountains, and is rich in nature, with plenty of walking spots. After the lesson, you can enjoy a stroll around Kamakura with the lunch you made.
