The Nakagawa River in the Miyahara area of Nasukarasuyama City, often called the 'Arashiyama of the Kanto region,' boasts stunning scenery. The current here is very gentle, making it a safe and enjoyable place for first-time kayakers. Originating in the Nasu mountain range, the Nakagawa River is approximately 150km long. After flowing through Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures, it empties into the Pacific Ocean at Oarai, making it one of the clearest rivers in the Kanto region. During the tour, you will likely see a variety of plants, wild birds, and fish. In autumn, you can also witness the run of wild salmon. We possess top-tier technical skills and risk management among outdoor companies in Tochigi Prefecture. Since our opening in 2004, we have maintained a record of zero accident insurance claims for our kayaking programs. As an option, we offer a special Ayu set meal from 'Hinokiya,' the largest Ochiishi tourist yana on the Nakagawa River. Enjoy the delicious flavors of the Nakagawa River. From October to December, wild salmon swim up from the sea to spawn. You might even be able to see the salmon from your kayak. During the autumn foliage season in mid-November, you can also fully enjoy the spectacular views of the leaves from the river surface.

Meeting. Meet at the Ochiishi Tourist Yana 'Hinokiya'.

Preparation. We will teach you how to hold the paddle, so even complete beginners have nothing to worry about.

On-water lesson. First, we will get you used to operating the kayak in calm waters.
Participants of all ages are welcome, including small children.

Regarding cancellation of the event:

The event will be held even in the rain. Even in heavy rain, it will proceed as long as the river water level remains within safety standards. If the water level on the regular course is high, we will guide you on the downstream course, which is only accessible when the water level is high. Safety management remains unchanged, so even beginners can participate with peace of mind. In the event of a cancellation, we will contact the person making the reservation by 8:00 PM the day before the event. If we do not receive a notification, the event will generally proceed as planned. However, in rare cases, we may be forced to cancel the event at the last minute due to unsafe conditions such as a weather disaster warning. Please note that in the event of a last-minute cancellation, participants will be responsible for transportation costs to the site. In the event of a last-minute cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances, we will reschedule the event or refund the full participation fee already paid.

Please note the following when participating in this course:

・Please arrive 10 minutes before the meeting time. If you are late, your reservation will be canceled. In that case, you will be charged the same-day cancellation fee. *As there will be other customers, we cannot wait for you. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we appreciate your understanding.

How to Get There

・By car: Take the Tohoku Expressway from Tochigi-Tsuga Junction to the Kita-Kanto Expressway and exit at Kamisukawa Interchange. Take National Route 4 toward Kuroiso, cross the Kinugawa River, and take Prefectural Route 10 toward Karasuyama, approximately 30 km. *Please note that there is a large industrial complex nearby, so traffic congestion may occur. Please allow plenty of time. ・By train: Take the JR Karasuyama Line and get off at Karasuyama Station, the last stop. *Free shuttle service is available. Please request this service when making your reservation.
