[Exhibition Area 1|Origin of Charm]
This area will take you into the birth and development of Ukiyo-e, from the citizen culture of the Edo period to the creative process of Ukiyo-e masters, and gain an in-depth understanding of how Ukiyo-e shaped and reflected the Japanese society and style at that time. You will see how Ukiyo-e broke through the traditional artistic framework, captured the beauty and emotions of everyday life, and had a profound impact on later generations.
[Exhibition Area 2|Scenic Spots-Viewing] The scenic spots area takes you into the vision of the masters of Ukiyo-e, immersing you in the Edo scenery described by Utagawa Hiroshige and the magnificent scenery in Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji", and feeling the artistic charm of Japan's scenic spots.
[Exhibition Area 3|Floral Beauty-Li] In this gorgeous space, appreciate the beauty of flowers and women that have been loved since ancient times. The blooming flowers and ukiyo-e beauties complement each other, showing Kitagawa Utamaro's delicate gestures and emotions, such as joy, anger, sadness and happiness. His innovative art of beauty painting has brought women's elegance and emotional expression to a new level.
[Exhibition Area 4|Water Scenery-Taki] Explore the magnificent waterscape of Hokusai Katsushika's "A Tour of Waterfalls in Various Provinces", from soft and delicate trickles to stunning waterfalls, and feel the power and changes of water flow. Through the varying shades of blue, the Ukiyo-e master skillfully displays the thickness and dynamics of water, and presents different artists’ unique interpretations of water, bringing about a “water performance” that interweaves vision and senses.
[Exhibition Area 5|Edo Style-Blue] Explore the various forms of water in Ukiyo-e - waves, rain scenes, and the fusion of rivers and seas. Through immersive imaging technology, the insight and brushstrokes of Ukiyo-e masters in capturing the instantaneous changes of water are reproduced. In the indigo-hued dream space, the audience will feel the power and beauty of water, as well as the charm of "water expression" that Japanese artists pursued throughout their lives.
[Exhibition Area 6|Traces of Edo-Tour] Here are precious authentic Ukiyo-e paintings, and many classic works allow you to appreciate the artistic essence of the Edo period up close. In addition, the exhibition area restores the amusement facilities of the Edo period, allowing you to experience the entertainment of that time firsthand and feel the fun and charm of Ukiyo-e in a joyful atmosphere.
[Exhibition Area 7|Rhythm of Nature - Color] This area will take you to appreciate the natural beauty in Ukiyo-e bird and flower paintings, and delicately depict the vivid scenery that changes with the seasons.
