Product Info

-What you can expect-
Immerse yourself in the complete life of Salvador Dalí, visiting the artists' museum in Figueres to his studio and home in Port Lligat. Personalize your experience with upgraded private tour tickets, or chose to join a group of no more than 16 people.

In Figueres, the birthplace of Dalí and home to the world-famous Dalí Museum-Theatre, you will explore where the artist was born on Monturiol Street and visit the museum. Step inside Dalí’s world of fantasy mixed with architecture mixed with paintings and sculptures for a complete surrealistic experience.

**Winter Schedule 15 September to 30 June:**

After a morning spent inside the mind of Dalí, you'll head for the beautiful coastal village of Cadaqués. Famous for its whitewashed Mediterranean houses and narrow shady streets this is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava.

Enjoy a lunch of local seafood specialties on a terrace facing the Mediterranean, or grab a sandwich and relax and ponder why this place inspired so many artists.

Next travel up the coast to the even smaller village of Port Lligat, the place where Dalí lived from 1930 onwards, gradually altering and enlarging the original dwelling he bought there and which shared the same name as the bay. It was in this studio that he painted the majority of his great works.

Finally, continue to Cap de Creus, the most easterly point of mainland Spain and one of the most starkly beautiful coastal landscapes in the country.

**Summer Schedule 1 July to 14th September:**

Following the winter morning itinerary, the visit to Dalí's house is substituted with a visit to the Castle of Púbol, which Dalí gave to his wife as a gift.

Travel to the village of Púbol, where you can eat a traditional Catalan lunch then visit another masterpiece of Dalí’s: Púbol Castle. Dalí gave the castle to his wife Gala in the spring of 1970, on the condition that he could not enter unless having been personally invited by her.

He carefully restored the old Gothic Renaissance Palace and furnished it with items bought from various antique dealers around the region. Inside, he painted frescoes and later painted two watercolors entitled View of Púbol.

In the afternoon your tour will continue to Platge de Castell, where Dalí frequently visited his friend and famous Catalan painter Josep Sert at Mas Juny.

Yes, it offers a truly unique dive into Salvador Dalí's surrealist world. Housed in his hometown's former municipal theatre, it's designed by Dalí himself to be an immersive work of art. Visitors can explore a vast collection of his works, from early creations to his later masterpieces, alongside three-dimensional collages and optical illusions. It's an essential experience for art lovers and those curious about the artist's eccentric genius.

2. What is the historical significance of the Dalí Theatre-Museum's location in Figueres?

The Dalí Theatre-Museum is strategically located in Figueres, Dalí's birthplace, on the ruins of the city's former municipal theatre. This location holds deep personal significance for Dalí, as it was where his first public exhibition took place. Dalí himself chose and designed this unique space, intending it to be his final resting place and a "total work of art" that guides visitors through his mind, rather than a traditional museum.

3. What are the highlights of visiting Figueres beyond the Dalí Theatre-Museum?

Beyond the iconic Dalí Theatre-Museum, Figueres offers several other points of interest. You can explore the Castell de Sant Ferran, a large star-shaped military fortress offering panoramic views, or wander through the Rambla, the city's main promenade, lined with shops and cafes. The Toy Museum of Catalonia (Museu del Joguet de Catalunya) also provides a charming historical journey through toys.

4. How many distinct sections or areas does the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres have?

The Dalí Theatre-Museum is not structured in conventional floors but rather as a labyrinthine, multi-level experience designed by Dalí himself. It includes various interconnected spaces: the former theatre stage under a geodesic dome, the museum's main collection areas, and the Dalí Joies (Dalí Jewels) exhibition. The design encourages visitors to wander and discover, reflecting Dalí's artistic vision, making it feel like a single, cohesive, surrealist journey.

5. What makes Cadaqués an appealing destination to visit on a tour?

Cadaqués is a picturesque coastal village known for its charming whitewashed houses, narrow winding streets, and stunning Mediterranean views. Its tranquil atmosphere, beautiful bay, and artistic heritage (it was a frequent haunt for Dalí and other artists) make it highly appealing. Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, explore small art galleries, or simply relax by the crystal-clear waters, offering a serene contrast to the more bustling Figueres.

6. What are the recommended transportation options to reach the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres from Barcelona?
