Arima Onsen is one of Japan's oldest and most renowned hot spring towns, celebrated for its distinct mineral-rich waters. It features two famous types of water: Kin no Yu (Gold Water), rich in iron and salt, which gives it a reddish-brown color and is known for its healing properties, and Gin no Yu (Silver Water), a clear, carbonated spring containing radium, believed to aid recovery from fatigue. Its traditional charm, historic atmosphere, and natural beauty, nestled in the mountains near Kobe, make it a unique and sought-after retreat.
When visiting Arima Onsen, it's customary to observe traditional onsen etiquette. Before entering the bath, you must thoroughly wash your body at the designated shower area. Bathers enter the hot springs completely nude; swimwear is not permitted. Long hair should be tied up to prevent it from touching the bathwater. Small towels are for washing, not for soaking in the bath. Maintain a quiet and respectful atmosphere to ensure a relaxing experience for everyone.
Arima Onsen is suitable for both day trips and overnight stays, depending on your preference. A day trip allows for a refreshing soak and a taste of the town's atmosphere. For a more immersive experience, including leisurely exploration of the charming streets, savoring local cuisine, and fully unwinding in a traditional ryokan, an overnight stay is highly recommended. The round-trip bus service offers tickets valid for up to three days, providing flexibility for either option.
From Osaka, one of the most convenient ways to reach Arima Onsen is by a direct round-trip bus service. This eliminates the need for multiple transfers and ensures a comfortable journey directly to the hot spring town. Traveling from Kobe to Arima Onsen is straightforward with a convenient round-trip bus service available. This direct option offers a comfortable and efficient journey, taking you straight to Arima Onsen without the complexities of navigating multiple train lines or local buses. The bus service is designed for ease of use, ensuring a relaxing start and end to your hot spring experience.

Arima Onsen is renowned for its two distinctive public baths: Kin no Yu and Gin no Yu. Kin no Yu, or Gold Water, is characterized by its opaque, reddish-brown color due to its high iron and salt content. It is a highly therapeutic spring, believed to relieve muscle pain and improve circulation. Gin no Yu, or Silver Water, on the other hand, is a clear spring that contains radium and carbon dioxide, known for its ability to boost metabolism and aid in natural healing processes.
Yes, the round-trip bus service to Arima Onsen provides excellent flexibility for visitors. The bus tickets are valid for three days starting from your initial day of travel.
