【Oga Specialty: Ishiyaki Cuisine】
In the past, fishermen navigating the rough waters of Oga in wooden boats would place caught fish, seaweed, and green onions into a water-filled bucket. They would then drop in small stones heated until red-hot by the charcoal in the boat's brazier to boil the ingredients instantly, seasoning it with miso for their lunch. To share this exceptional fisherman's dish, rich with the flavor of fresh seafood, with tourists, Oga Hotel in Oga Onsen devised and began offering it as a banquet dish around 1963. It is a 'Oga specialty dish to be enjoyed with the eyes, ears, and tongue,' born from the Oga spirit of hospitality—a desire to delight visitors with the dynamic performance of the dish boiling instantly with sound and steam.
