Lioujia District

Getting to Lioujia District can be challenging as attractions are spread out and bus services are infrequent. It is recommended to rent a scooter or car near Chiayi High-Speed Rail Station or Xinying Station for convenient exploration of surrounding towns. If you are taking the High-Speed Rail to Chiayi Station, you can transfer to a bus to Xinying Station, and then take XinYing Bus routes Huang1, Huang2, or Huang3 to get off at Lioujia Station.

Lioujia District boasts numerous worthwhile attractions, including the Linfongying Story House with its Japanese-style wooden architecture, the Nine Grade Lotus Ecological Education Park, a renowned lotus viewing spot, the well-equipped Lioujia District Multi-Functional Sports Park, and the Suilin Village Edible Landscape Trail and Zhennangu Temple Back Mountain Trail, which are rich in local characteristics.

Legend has it that the naming of Lioujia District dates back 360 years to the late Ming Dynasty during the Zheng Chenggong era. Military advisor Chen Yonghua stationed troops here to reclaim wasteland. The initially reclaimed areas were divided into Erjia, Lioujia, and Qijia, among others, which then became the village names. Later, these villages, including Erjia, Lioujia, and Qijia, merged into one township. As Lioujia was located in the center, it was named Lioujia Township.
