Since no one else had booked the same tour that day, it became a private tour. I booked an English tour, but the guide could speak a little Japanese, and the driver was fluent in Japanese, so I was very fortunate. Visiting the mountain tribe village was a great experience, as I got to see their real way of life rather than just a tourist attraction. At Chiang Dao Cave, I paid a tip to the cave's expert guide, and having him guide me with a lantern in hand was also a valuable experience. However, there are some narrow places in the cave where even the petite Thai guide has to bend down and use his hands to hold onto the rocks on either side to squeeze through, which was quite challenging for me, being relatively tall for a Japanese person. There is a lot of walking on slippery rocks, so be careful not to give up halfway through if you don't have a firm grip on your feet.
