Access to Zamami Island is primarily by ferry. The Ferry Zamami provides regular service, with one-way tickets costing 2150 yen and round-trip tickets priced at 4090 yen. The ferry typically makes a stop at Aka Island before continuing its journey to Zamami Island. The travel time from Tomari Port to Aka Island is approximately 1.5 hours, and the trip to Zamami Island takes around 2 hours. The fare remains the same for both destinations.

Zamami Village is home to a small and close-knit community of approximately 600 residents. This charming village serves as the heart of the island, providing visitors with an authentic glimpse into the traditional Ryukyuan culture.

Accommodation on Zamami Island primarily consists of charming small-scale guest houses, known locally as 'Pensions' or 'minshuku' in Japanese. The village also features two full-sized hotels. The majority of these establishments are conveniently situated within the main Zamami Hamlet, offering easy access to the island's amenities.
