Fortunately, our guide was Keita-san, who not only spoke fluent English and supplemented our knowledge of Japanese history along the way, but was also very responsible. We could really feel his enthusiasm for the job. In addition, although it was drizzling, we were able to stroll comfortably through the village early in the morning, avoiding the crowds caused by the influx of tourists after 11 a.m.
This trip involved traveling between the airport and Osaka, and between Osaka and Kanazawa. We reserved seats at the stations. JR stations have many routes, so we needed to allow plenty of time to walk to the platform. Moving between stations required good observation skills and stamina. Overall, it was like a level game, but thankfully everything went smoothly. The ticket price was definitely worth it!
Most attractions include Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. You can easily get a map at the tourist information center. The Daisetsu Suzuki Museum is fantastic. There's a very special green path leading to the Crafts Museum, winding through a forest trail. The Crafts Museum itself is a very unique building, but I didn't go in because of a special exhibition that didn't offer free admission. The Samurai Mansions are also amazing; you absolutely must see them. Sitting under the eaves in the cool breeze is simply wonderful.
