Kannonji

Zhulinshan Kannonji primarily enshrines the Eighteen-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, an embodiment of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva are enshrined on both sides of the main hall. Additionally, the east and west halls of the temple also house deities such as Guan Sheng Di Jun, Tian Shang Sheng Mu, Wen Chang Di Jun, Zhu Sheng Niang Niang, and Fu De Zheng Shen. Worshippers can make offerings according to their needs.

Worshippers often pray for four main types of wishes at Kannonji: seeking offspring, especially suitable for couples who have had difficulty conceiving; praying for health, for the protection of children or personal well-being; seeking wisdom, for children's intellectual development and academic success; and praying for career advancement, for those facing career difficulties or plateaus, one can petition Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva.

At Kannonji, devotees primarily pray for peace, as Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva symbolizes compassion and can bestow blessings for family harmony, as well as personal and family health. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is also believed to protect devotees' health, especially when facing illness. Furthermore, many people believe Avalokitesvara can bring financial luck, praying for career success and prosperity.

The belief in Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva originates from Buddhist scriptures, whereas Mazu is a historical figure. Mazu's faith integrates Avalokitesvara's compassion with Confucian and Taoist principles, making it the most prevalent folk belief in Taiwan. Mazu, revered as 'Tian Shang Sheng Mu' (Heavenly Mother), is known for her vast supernatural powers and constant protection of the virtuous, akin to a mother in heaven.

The main deity in the main hall of Zhulinshan Kannonji is the Eighteen-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, said to be very efficacious for fortune telling and casting lots, symbolizing wisdom and complete blessings. Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva are enshrined alongside Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Additionally, the east and west halls also house deities such as Guan Sheng Di Jun, Tian Shang Sheng Mu, Wen Chang Di Jun, Zhu Sheng Niang Niang, and Fu De Zheng Shen, whom worshippers can approach according to their individual needs.
