The most common recommendation for traveling from Taiwan to Northern Nagano is to fly to Tokyo, Japan (Narita or Haneda Airport), and then take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano. Another option is to fly to Matsumoto Airport, but direct flights are less frequent or require transfers, and then take a bus or train to Nagano city. Option 1: Fly to Tokyo and transfer to Shinkansen (most common) Fly to Narita Airport (NRT) or Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo. Take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station or Ueno Station to Nagano Station; the journey takes about 90-100 minutes. Option 2: Fly to Matsumoto Airport.

The snowfall season in Northern Nagano typically begins from late November to early December and lasts until late March of the following year. January and February are the months with the heaviest snowfall, and many ski resorts are open during this period. Sporadic snowfall starts from late November to early December, and by mid-December, the snowfall becomes more regular and accumulation begins. January and February are the peak snowfall months and the most popular winter tourist season in Northern Nagano, suitable for activities like skiing and snow viewing. Snowfall gradually decreases in March, but accumulated snow will persist, and regular snowfall may end by late March. Although regular snowfall may end, the accumulated snow will continue to melt, and snow may still be encountered in some high-altitude areas.
