    Bong Bong Train has created the modern sightseeing culture of “Taiwan's Trolley” while also retaining the past culture of forestry production.   • Jianqing Historic Trail

  • Jiuzhize Hot Spring
    The newly renovated egg-boiling area includes two pools, fun Ota's tree frog decorations, a taro-leaf pavilion, and upgraded restrooms for added comfort. Bring your own ingredients or buy eggs and corn at the service center. The nearby nature trail offers fresh air and scenic views, perfect for a family outing.
  • Cueifong Lake
    Get a glimpse of Cueifong Lake in Taiping Mountain, the largest alpine lake in Taiwan, and the highest lake in Yilan. Take a refreshing walk on the trail around the lake and clear your mind. (Charter tour only)
  • Taiwan Beech Trail
    Walk the 3.8 km Taiwan Beech Trail (one-way to and back) and see the golden forest of changing leaves (at 3.4 - 3.8 km) Based on past statistics, the best time for viewing the autumn leaves is from mid-October to mid-November. However, the leaf conditions is subject to the weather. The Taipingshan Facebook page will provide the updates.

— Bong Bong Train Info — 

  • Due to the impact of Typhoon Kemi, some parts of the Taiping Mountain Bong Bong Train collapsed. Considering driving safety, the park is currently only reopening some sections of the road for driving. It is expected that the entire road section will be resumed early next year. The rest of the park will be open to traffic. The itinerary attractions are currently not affected.
  • The driving routes and fare adjustments are as follows:
    - The route has been adjusted from the original 2.6 km to a turnaround point at 1 km (passengers will not disembark). The round-trip time is approximately 20 minutes.
    - Ticket prices have been temporarily adjusted from the original NT$180 to a flat rate of NT$80 (down from the original full fare of NT$180 and the discounted fare of NT$120).
    - The first train still departs at 07:30. The last departure has been adjusted from 14:30 (15:30 during the summer) to 16:00. Trains run on the hour and half-hour, with 81 seats per train and a total of 18 departures each day. Ticket sales start at 07:00 on-site as usual.
  • Travelers who wish to ride the train have to proceed to the boarding location themselves.
  • The tickets are sold as round-trip journeys, can only be purchased on-site and are limited in numbers. Travelers need to queue on-site. Please reserve at least 1.5–2 hours of riding and walking time from the Taipingshan entrance to the Bong Bong Train entrance

  1. Can I buy a Bong Bong Train ticket out of pocket?
    Bong Bong Train tickets are not open for booking in advance and can only be purchased on-site. Tickets for the day will be available for purchase at 7:00 am. There are a limited number of tickets per day so we advise you to discuss the itinerary time with our staff on the day to decide if you should buy a ticket.

  2. Is it possible to buy food in Taipingshan?
    There is a basic concession shop and a cafe on the first floor of Taipingshan Villa. The options are limited and are priced higher. We advise you to bring your own lunch.

  3. If I want to pay for the hot spring experience, will the tour wait for me?
    Due to the time of shared tours and the popularity of the hot springs, we advise you to talk with our staff on the day to confirm whether there will be enough time to actually get in the hot springs

  4. Can I bring any luggage?
    There is limited space in the vehicle so we advise you to travel lightly. For any luggage needs, please send out an inquiry

  • For safety concerns, guests over the age of 70 or who have impaired mobility are not suitable for this tour. If guests under the above conditions still wish to participate, they must be accompanied by friends or family
  • The transfer time, itinerary time and sequence are for reference only. They are subject to change due to traffic or facility operating conditions
  • Please arrive at meeting points on time throughout the tour. Latecomers who fail to proceed with the tour will not be refunded

  • The content of this tour is subject to change in accordance with government regulation 
  • In the event of snow, the roads to Taipingshan will be controlled and the tour can only be operated with a 9-passenger vehicle. KKday will assess the weather conditions and communicate with the guests in advance. If it snows on the day and the tour runs as usual, the wheels of the vehicle will need to be fitted with snow chains at the foot of the mountain, the cost of which (around NT$ 3000–4000 per vehicle) will be shared by the guests on the day of the tour

  • A minimum of 2 traveler(s) are required for the tour to depart. If the number of participants does not reach the minimum requirement, the tour will be canceled. An email regarding tour cancellation will be sent 1 day(s) before the departure date

  • After the booking is successfully completed and the tour is confirmed, the voucher will be updated and resent to your email by 7:00 PM on the day before departure. The updated voucher will include the tour details. Please stay attentive and keep your phone accessible for communication.

  • This is a group tour and the car will be assigned based on the group size. Travelers will not be allowed to choose or reserve a seat, and it will be first come, first served

  • If the number of participants for the English/Japanese service is fewer than 6, the service will be changed to Chinese. Customer service will notify travelers one day before departure and refund the language fee difference — NT$ 300 per person for English and NT$ 700 per person for Japanese. Please note this before booking.

  • A small vehicle will be used on the day of the tour, and no additional tour guide will be arranged. Tour commentary will be provided onboard. Some drivers may use translation software to communicate. KKday will not issue refunds for problems that arise due to this situation

  • Considering the traffic/crowdedness, Bong Bong Train ride and Jiuzhize Hot Spring are not guaranteed

  • The scenery in Taipingshan is subject to seasonality, weather and climate; the viewing experience cannot be guaranteed

  • The weather in the mountains is unpredictable and when it rains, roads become slippery. It is advised to wear water-proof and warm clothes and hiking shoes, and bring hiking sticks, rain/UV protective gear and insect repellent
