Product Info

— Attraction Introduction —

  • Xuejian Recreation Area
Located in Tai'an Township, Miaoli County, the Xuejian Recreation Area encompasses the northwestern side of Shei-Pa National Park and its neighboring indigenous villages. With an elevation ranging from approximately 600 to 2,600 meters, the area experiences abundant rainfall and misty, ethereal scenery. Here, you can take in the magnificent mountain views of the Xueshan Holy Ridge. When winter arrives, the mountain peaks are covered in snow, and the name 'Xuejian' (literally 'seeing snow') perfectly reflects the geographical characteristics of this region. The area is dominated by broad-leaved forests, which provide a rich food source for wildlife. Beyond a wide variety of medium to large mammals such as Formosan black bears, Formosan serows, Formosan macaques, and Reeves's muntjacs, 15 species of bats—the only small mammals capable of flight—have been discovered here. This high level of biodiversity is rare in the country, indicating a remarkably healthy forest ecosystem. The Xuejian Visitor Center is an interpretive hub built by Shei-Pa National Park in the Xuejian area. It features exhibition areas and an audiovisual room, with interpreters available to provide guidance and introduce the region's rich natural resources, recreational information, and cultural history. The multimedia audiovisual room seats 50 people and screens films introducing the natural ecology of Shei-Pa National Park at scheduled times daily; group reservations are welcome. The visitor center also offers publications for sale and a commemorative stamp station. When entering the Xuejian Recreation Area, feel free to take a break at the Xuejian Visitor Center and enjoy this space designed by the national park to be both educational and inspiring. There are trails on the right and east sides of the visitor center, where you can walk in comfort, listen to the crisp sounds of insects and birds, and experience the forest landscape of the mid-altitude broad-leaved forest belt.
  • Dahu Winery
Located in the southeast of Miaoli County and surrounded by mountains, this winery offers pleasant scenery. It is a winery transformed and operated by the Dahu Farmers' Association and is the first winery in the country to produce strawberry fruit wine, as well as the only strawberry wine production site in Asia. Globally, only Dahu, Canada, and the United States produce strawberry wine. The biggest challenge in brewing strawberry wine at the Dahu Rural Leisure Winery is color control. Although strawberries can be made into wine after being pressed, fermented, and aged for 6 months to remove impurities, if the fermentation process does not go smoothly, the resulting wine color will be too pale or contain sediment. Finally, through everyone's efforts, the first bottle of strawberry wine, 'Hu Mei Lian', was born. The Mediterranean-style strawberry winery features a transparent glass design for the brewing plant, allowing visitors to view the entire production process. There is also a Strawberry Cultural Museum that introduces literature and data related to the planting and development history of strawberries!
  • Erben-song Interpretation Station & Maruta Fort Site
The Erben-song Interpretation Station was originally a police station during the Japanese colonial period. It has been replanned into today's Erben-song Interpretation Station, which features rich cultural and historical sites, indigenous cultural displays, and magnificent views overlooking the Da'an River Valley. It is the best place for visitors to learn about the local tribes and the national park. Walking 900 meters inward, you can reach the Maruta Fort site. The fort, which was set up at a high vantage point back then, was intended to manage the Atayal people of the neighboring tribes. 'Maruta' was named in memory of Kiyoshi Maruta, a Japanese police officer who died in the Beishi Battle. The interpretation station houses the 'Maruta Fort History Museum', which displays historical materials from the Xuejian area during the Japanese colonial period.
  • Wenshui Visitor Center
The visitor center features exhibition rooms and an audiovisual room, presenting the park's geology, topography, flora, fauna, and cultural landscape resources through easy-to-understand text and vivid, exciting images. Visitors can understand the general overview of the national park in the shortest time here. Next to it is an octagonal two-story building adjacent to an ecological landscape lake, offering an excellent view. It also provides simple meals and sells national park publications, making it a great place for rest or reading about nature.
