I was able to enjoy tea at a leisurely pace in a calm atmosphere. It's a great place to relax away from the hustle and bustle. I would like to visit again.
The tour guide was very professional and dedicated! Keelung Island seemed well-planned; although small, climbing to the lighthouse at the highest point was quite tiring, but it was a worthwhile experience!
This Labor Day trip to Keelung Island was a bit of a hassle. I didn't plan to take motion sickness medication because it has serious side effects (drowsiness, fatigue). The weather was overcast and the waves were high, so I got extremely seasick. On the return trip, I was vomiting uncontrollably. However, I must emphasize how considerate the tour guide and boatman were. They constantly reminded me to use vomit bags and provided bottled water. They also checked on me when I wasn't feeling well. After about 20 minutes of sailing, we arrived at Keelung Island. We first walked along a flat trail with beautiful scenery. If you want to climb the mountain to see the black and white lighthouse, you need to assess your physical condition (it takes about 30 minutes to climb up and 20 minutes to descend). People who aren't used to exercise or have poor stamina might find it difficult, as the steep path will definitely make you sweat a lot. So, "definitely bring water!" Also, please note that Bisha Fishing Port (Badouzi Tourist Fishing Port) is closed except for boat trips; it's not suitable for seafood lovers!
During Golden Week, Jiufen is always crowded, and with Taiwan also experiencing a three-day weekend, the sheer number of people was overwhelming, making it difficult to move around freely. However, I'm so glad I made a reservation here. I was able to sit back, enjoy delicious tea, and recharge my energy. I was also able to fully enjoy the scenery and take photos. Luckily, it didn't rain on the day I visited, but since it's a rainy region, I highly recommend making a reservation. In fact, I think it would be reckless to try to enjoy Jiufen without a reservation. The staff were very kind to Japanese people, and even though I arrived a little early, they kindly let me in, which is another reason why I rate them highly.
Before departure, the boatman provides a clear pre-trip briefing, and you can ask questions if you have any. Fishing rod locations are randomly assigned by the boatman. The crew is very helpful, and you can ask questions anytime. Suitable for families/first-time sea fishing beginners. The food is delicious, but those prone to seasickness are not advised to eat too much.
The weather that day was also great – not too hot and with a slight sea breeze. There was a professional diving performance team and zookeepers who gave professional explanations of the anatomy of sea lions and dolphins. Everyone, young and old, had a great time and it was a wonderful trip.
