Shodoshima Classic Day Tour | Shodoshima Olive Park & Kankakei Gorge & Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village & Shodoshima Great Kannon
First stop: Great Guanyin. The abbot will first chant the Heart Sutra to pray for everyone. Afterwards, you can take an elevator to the height of Guanyin's neck for a better view, but the space is very cramped and the queue is time-consuming, so it's not recommended. You can see more scenery at Hanxia Creek. Second stop: Hanxia Creek. You will have lunch here (at your own expense). You can have a simple meal (hamburgers, udon noodles, etc.) and do some shopping. Make the most of your time to take photos and enjoy the scenery, which changes with the seasons. Afterwards, you will take a cable car. Along the way, you will see some unique rock formations. The advantage of being on a tour is that you don't have to queue with other tourists for the cable car, and you are guaranteed a spot. Third stop: 24 Eyes Cinema Village. This place was once a filming location, and it features retro Showa-era scenes. You can take many beautiful photos here. The sea view is also very beautiful. The cat shopkeeper in the souvenir shop is very cute, and the soy sauce ice cream is super delicious (it tastes a lot like malt milk). Highly recommended. Fourth stop: Ichitoku-an Soy Sauce. This is a shopping stop where you can buy Shodoshima's specialty soy sauce. You have free time to shop, and the stop is short and stress-free. The fifth stop: Windmill Park. This attraction is the filming location for the real-life Kiki's Delivery Service. You can pick up a broom (free rental) as soon as you get off the bus and take your own flying photo at the windmill. On the way back to the visitor center from Windmill Park, you'll pass "Angel's Path." The tour leader will ask if anyone wants to get off, but after getting off here, you must return to the visitor center on your own. In summary, this is a very fulfilling and well-organized trip that gives you a basic understanding of Shodoshima's unique features. Although I didn't understand Japanese, the tour leader's attitude in introducing the attractions along the way showed how rich the content was. I highly recommend everyone participate.
