The International Tagami Bamboo Festival 'Tagami Bamboo Boo 2026' is a popular art event that colors the autumn in Tagami Town, Niigata Prefecture.
Set in the bamboo forests of Tagami, a town famous for its bamboo, this special night tourism experience allows you to enjoy magical 'bamboo lanterns' created by local residents and artists.
Inside the bamboo forest, unique art pieces that highlight the natural beauty of the bamboo are lined up, with countless lights illuminating the forest in a dreamlike way. A major highlight is that the bamboo lanterns are 'all-Tagami made,' crafted through the collective efforts of locals from cutting the bamboo to processing and installation.
In 2026, the new 'TBBB Tagami Bamboo Boo Museum' will make its debut. Students from Tagami Junior High School have participated in the planning, creating an interactive venue where visitors can enjoy the charm of Tagami through art, food, and a stamp rally.
Additionally, the path from 'Michi-no-Eki Tagami' to the bamboo forest is lit by 'Hikari no Mi' (Fruits of Light) featuring smiles drawn by local residents, turning the journey to the venue into a light art experience itself. As you walk through the town, you can feel the unique scenery and the warm charm of the local community.
